Rhome Community Library

Building Fund

The Rhome Library, Wise County's first library, begins a new chapter in its 63-year-old history . . .

In 1960, the efforts of a dedicated group of local individuals resulted in the opening of the original Rhome Library that immediately served the needs of the community. Over the decades, as the population and its needs have increased, so have our services.

From the beginning, the Rhome Community Library has never had a permanent home. Through the diligent efforts of past and present board members, the land at 501 South Old Mill Road was purchased for the construction of a new, permanent library building. This larger building will allow Rhome Community Library to expand its existing programs and offer more beneficial support opportunities to the citizens of Rhome and the surrounding communities.

Magee Architects in Fort Worth designed a library based on our current and future needs. The plan is for a building that will be approximately 5,892 square feet with a designated children’s area, an expanded computer area, a large community meeting room, a reading/study room, and a general reading area.

Our goal is ambitious as we strive to have the funds available to begin the construction process!

Thank-you for your thoughtful consideration of a donation toward the permanent home of the Rhome Community Library. You will not only be supporting a new building but also investing in our community.

Sincerely,
The Board of Directors

Pam Reid Kemp, Randall Loftis, Christina Miller, Mike Van Meter, Lynda Green, Rose Van Meter, LaRue Hawkins
