Information

The Rhome Community Library is located at 265 BC Rhome Avenue in Rhome, Texas. In addition to providing print and electronic books, DVDs and Blu-Rays, we have a variety of programs for all ages. We provide free internet access and Wi-Fi services for everyone. Copies, prints, and faxes are available for a small fee.

What We Are:

The Rhome Community Library (RCL) is a non-profit corporation operated exclusively for educational and charitable purposes within the meaning of Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. A volunteer Board of Directors oversees the daily operations and seeks funding through donations and grants.

The Rhome Community Library was the first library in Wise County. Sixteen local ladies opened the first location in December 1960 as a cherished source of community pride. The library provides services for residents living in the City of Rhome and all surrounding communities as well as all residents of Wise County, anyone employed within the library's service area. and all students and faculty of Northwest ISD plus their family members.

What We Offer

The library holds approximately 10,000 materials, including books and movies. Children and adults who have accounts with us have unlimited free access to eBooks and downloadable audiobooks through these three providers; Libby by Overdrive, SimplyE, and Biblioboard/E-Read Texas. Unlimited access to additional downloadable e-books, articles, and countless other resources is also available through TexShare Databases. All Wise County residents and all students and faculty of Northwest ISD (and their family members) are eligible to receive free membership cards. The library provides an online catalog accessible from any internet service. Programs and events for all ages are scheduled throughout the year. Other Services

We accept payment in the form of cash and debit/credit cards. We do not accept checks. Payments by card will incur service charges.

Faxes - 50¢ per page to send; no receiving. We require and provide a Fax Cover Sheet that will add 50¢ to your total. Staff will send the fax. Patron confidentiality and privacy will be maintained.

Copies/Prints - Black and white - 20¢ single sided, 30¢ double sided;
Color - 50¢ single sided, 75¢ double sided

NOTE: Our Internet security team does not allow patrons to print from their personal devices. You must print from our computers or email your documents to the library and we can print them for you. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Fees for Credit/Debit Payments - There is a $3.00 minimum requirement for all charges. Each payment will incur a 75¢ fee plus 3.9%.

The following are free services.

  • Computers - Library patrons and visitors may use our public computers free of charge. Free access to the internet on your device is available in-house via our Wi-Fi connection. Our public computers allow you to access the Internet, search our catalog (see below), or use our Microsoft software. We provide one computer for children 17 and younger that has a variety of educational programs preloaded.
  • Free online databases -  Library patrons may log on to our databases from any device with an internet connection anywhere, 24/7. Databases are linked through our Online Catalog (open the tab above for access).
  • Inter-Library-Loan (ILL). All patrons can request items from other libraries via the Texas Group Catalog. Open the Online Catalog and log in with your card number and PIN (your phone number). Omit spaces and dashes on both. Search for the items you want and click Request. Follow the prompts to finish the process. If items are available, they typically arrive within two weeks. You will be notified when ready for pick up.

Anyone may search our catalog. No membership card is required. Click the Online Catalog button in the toolbar above to search by Title/Author/Keyword. 

A membership card provides you with privileges to use all these features:

  1. Renew and reserve books from your device.
  2. Receive our monthly newsletter.
  3. Explore TexShare Databases. TexShare Databases allow you to access over 27,000 journals, over 171,000 ebooks, and over 15 million images, videos, and interactive resources. Explore subject areas such as medicine, business, genealogy, K-12 education, research papers and projects, literature - eBooks, audiobooks, and literary analyses of prose, poetry, etc., from your own device with any Internet connection 24/7/365. Educational and Spanish language databases are included.

The Copyright Law of 1976 (United States Code, Title 17) governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted material. Under certain conditions specified in the law, libraries and archives are authorized to furnish a photocopy or other reproduction. One of these specific conditions is that the photocopy or reproduction is not to be "used for any purpose other than private study, scholarship, or research."
